Finding spare parts?-Accident places?
Options
Our Saab developed a fault with it's wipers. We can work them manually but not automatically and as a result the washer fluid can't be used. this fault has been going on for over a year as we haven't been able to afford to get it fixed.
Anyway we have just had to have the MOT done which required a service to be done and for the rear brake pads to be replaced so that has cost £260 already. The garage had hoped to be able to fix the wipers quite cheaply with a new switch but unfortunately it would have required a reprogramming which is something they can't do and once they had the switch it couldn't be replaced. Anyway they referred us back to the Saab garage who have said that the cost of replacing the whole unit inside the wheel and labour charges would be a minimum of near £500. Something we don't have.
So we have spoken to an autoelectrical garage who could put in a second hand unit but he has warned us that getting the right second hand unit is tricky and the best place is probably an accident place.
Can anyone suggest anywhere that we can try and get a secondhand part from? Any companies online or anywhere in Perthshire/Dundee way?

Thanks.
Just had another call back from the auto electrical garage and it looks as though from what they say it might be a body unit instead and in that case only Saab can do it...Apparently Saab are so exclusive with their technology that no-one else can afford their software....
Unfortuantely that means it will have to remain broken for anther year at least. See what they mean when they Saab and electrical faults are their downfall.0 -
body control module then all new and newish cars have them.
a saab indy should be able to reprogram and yes saab do have loads of eletrical issues0 -

I'ts gutitng when we've already spent £260 to have to face another £500 min, wouldn't care (well i would but you know what i mean) but the car is probably only worth £6000.0 -
Just a suggestion, but if you can get the auto electrical place to give you the part no, try putting it into a google search engine, I tried this and saved £100 on the price of a speed sensor for my car. I had the part delivered from USA and fitted it myself.I used to be me !! what happened0

Unfortuantely we can't fit it ourselves as it will need reprogramming afterwards
We've bitten the bullet and put it into Saab to see which unit we are looking at. Don't think we'll be able to afford to fix it but at least we will know what is wrong.
Sorry Somech i only noticed the bit about the Saab Indy now, there's only one in this country isn't there?0 -

It's a common fault on Saabs circa 2003-2005. Well, one of the MANY problems anyway... Simple fix really.0
