Is it the norm when leaving a property?

to hand the keys back, then some time after that, the agents will check the property before giving the deposit back?
Ideally I'd like to be there, but they don't know when they are going to do it, all I know is it will be once I've handed the keys in.
I've been here for almost 12 years (12 years in July) and the only things wrong are some of the kitchen tiles are loose/coming off the outside wall and 2 of the drawers are falling apart. Also above the bay window in the main bedroom is some flaky paint where we have painted and painted in the past but it always flakes off (maybe damp?)
With regards to these and anything else they may find, wouldn't they just be under fair wear and tear?
Should I take pics before I hand the keys back to prove what it was like?
There was no inventory if that means anything.

I would definitely class that as fair wear and tear over 12 years.
It is however academic as there is no inventory, so they will find it hard to make any deductions.0 -
Yes do take photos of the rooms / damage, especially as they will be checking the property later on.0

Presumably you have reported these problems with the property to the landlord or letting agency in writing?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

No, but the landlady knows. I told her and showed her when she was here.
That was....oooh a long time ago now!
Don't ask me why I didn't let the agents know ~ the agents didn't want to know when I went almost 2 years without a gas safety check, so I didn't want to bother their sorry backsides over a couple of drawers.
