blown head gasket

An additional 25c means a pressure of approx 2.5bar. THat still seems high to me considering the flimsy hoses etc. The renault formula 1 website says their water system runs at approx 130C, 3.5 bar, ie the water is still a compressed liquid. I imagine their engines use pipes rather than hoses though.0

I have a V reg 416 iXL, 33,500 miles and my head gasket has blown. Not bad work for 6 years!! Come to mention it, I have seen a lot more older ones running around on M,N,P,R and on but very little V's and W's. I gues the engine change was around 1999-2000. Just my luck. Had no other problems with it, apart from a bloke I trusted rather too well to do a quick fix to sell or PX. Money for nothing.......................? Looks that way, Oil went from ok and normal colour to mayonnaise in two weeks. He said he would put some quick fix fluid in the system. Drove it home 6 miles, £80 for the work, £100 to have it towed home 2 miles when the thing packed up again. But it has not deposited steam all over the place like my SD1 did a few years ago, I say steam, more like two litres of water out the exhaust!! LOL0
