DVD Writer Installation Problem

I have just fitted a new Pioneer 110-D as Master and my old CD writer as slave.
My Dell 5100 shows the Pioneer as a CD Rom drive but the model as Pioneer-RW DVR 110-D. It is using driver cdrom.sys. It will read but not write any dvd's
I downloaded latest firmware from Pioneer and got a confirmation that the firmware was updated from 1.37 to 1.41. However the 110-d is still showing as a CD Rom drive and using driver cdrom.sys. I have tried to update the drivers within XP but it says no updated drivers are available
I have also moved the CD Writer to master and the Pioneer to slave but this has not made any difference.
Any advice would be welcomed

Have you got any DVD writing software with it (Nero etc), or just bought a bare drive?
http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/dvdcdburning.shtmlEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Many thanks for the replies. I have Nero so I am alright for DVD writing software.
I have brought the drive to another computer and will try it on that one tomorrow.
dooby95's advice looks excellent. I am not back with the original computer until Monday but will try the advice given then.0 -

Does nero pick the pioneer up?
If I click on my Lite-On DVD writer in device manager under drivers I get this:-
cdrom.sys
imapi.sys
PxHelp20.sys
redbook.sys
storprop.dll
All under System32/drivers.0 -
It only shows as a cd rom drive0

Hi
Start up Neros InfoTool, look at Drive and ASPI and see what they are saying about your drive.
Just a suggestion.0 -
Weird!!
The shop that sold the drive to you aint made a mistake have they? Saying that the firmware upgrade wouldnt have worked if the pioneer wasn't actualy a Pioneer 110-D.
Stumbled!
What version of Nero have you installed?
Download this and copy it to your C:\Program Files\Nero folder.0 -
dooby95's reply said xp only thinks my drive is read only and not recordable. He told me how to fix it.
I think that's where the problem is but his post has been removed for some reason.
Does anyone know how to fix it?0
