When can I expect a medical?

I have been claiming IB and IS and DLA since November 05. I get a sick note every 4-6 weeks and had my WFI a while back.
I telephoned the IB dept and was told, "Why do you want to know that? You will be told in due course".
Is it normal to claim IB for 8 months and have no word of a medical?

Really it depends on the diagnosis. If it's clear you will meet the IB criteria then there's no point in them seeing you at all. I suspect the only reason some people are called it to boost the profits of Atosorign. They can use the DLA medical evidence for IB if it's suitable so I wouldn't worry till they actually decide to call you, and probably it's not worth worrying then.
I've not been seen for years now and touching wood they won't call me at all.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

But I will still have to submit sick notes every 4-6 weeks?0

You have to continue submitting sick notes until they tell you otherwise!
I would of thought you will just have to sit and wait - they may call you for a medical or they may not - you may meet the criteria for not having to attend one though this depends on the nature of your illness.
I was almost 6 months on IB before I had my medical.Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
You have to send in sick notes till they write to you & tell you you no longer have to do so. This usually happens after the medical,
Would getting a sick note from your gp for longer than 4-6weeks be an option untill the dwp call you for said medical? The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Medical Reports for Incapacity Benefits Information for GP's.
It's impossible to give you any idea when you'll be called, as it depends on how busy your local DWP office is and how busy/well staffed the Medical Services are locally. As it's something that's totally outside your control and there's nothing you can do about it, there's no point in your worrying. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I was on incapacity benefit for 12 months before i had my first medical, afterwards when I was informed I hadnt passed the medical and would be staying on benefits I was told I would have another medical in 6 months time.
As I am on long term sick I dont get a sick note, the DWP write to my doctor who confirms I am still unfit to work etc.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 126 :j
