Hi,
Can anyone help me with a plumbing query please? Basically we don't have any cold water in the bathroom as it seems the cold water tank is not filling up. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen.
Cheers

Go into the loft and in the tank you will see a ball valve similar to in your toilet cistern. The probability is that it has become stuck in the off position (at its highest point). If you gently hold where it is fixed to the inlet pipe and push the float down, the water should start flowing in. Work it up and down gently a few times and it should be ok for a few days but a permanent fix is a new valve. Not very expensive (£2 or £3).0

First are you sure you have a cold water tank? Some parts of the country don't bother with them much. I just have to ask.
If you are sure the cold water tank isn't filling up then:
The valve on the tank is blocked / shut. Unusual as they tend to fail open which is why you have overflows. Alternatively you have something in the tank blocking the outflow pipe. You don't want to go there
Someone has turned off the mains inside the house or at your stop tap outside.
Someone has cut the mains outside either turning off part of your street or area.
Are you still able to get cold water at the kitchen tap?
Has / is anyone working in the area ?A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

As previous posts - stuck valve is the favourite. But presumably water pressure adequate and not suddenly turned down in this hot weather, by your supplier? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

I fixed one like this last week!
They had just come back from 10 days holiday and soon ran out of water!
The float valve in the loft was stuck shut.
However, all the water in the house will probably "run out" with the exception of the kitchen cold which is direct off the mains.Keep SmilingSite member number 24

Thanks to everyone for their advice - my other half has managed to fix it now so at last we have cold water (had to happen on the hotest day ever!). He did something to one of the valves and the tank started to fill up and has been okay since. So once again, many thanks for all your help!0
