Stamp duty on shared ownership?

I am looking at a shared ownership flat tomorrow. If I was to buy a 50% share in a £140,000 property, what would I be liable for in the way of stamp duty? My share would be £70,000, i.e. below the £125k threshold, but the whole value of the property is over the threshold. Does anybody know - because the guy from the Housing Association didn't! Bet it's the full whack at £1.4k though...

Yep , sadly you would. theres some rule about if you pay over a very small amount in rental side then yes. Ill dig about and find the link for you
You can pay the SD only on the portion you buy, you dont have to pay the SD on the whole lot, well I didnt in any case . If/ when you buy extra shares you can pay the extra SD then
Will dig about:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
