Ok so i started (trying) to plan EVERYTHING, spent a good 2 hrs last night writing out recipes (im fairly new to cooking from scratch) from here and other places and wrote a list of ingredients for each recipe on little index cards so when I came to plan the shopping it would be easier/quicker
so anyway went to lidl this afternoon, forgot my list and spent £35 but about £15-£20 were on things that werent on my list and I didnt really need, I did get some mozerella cheese, down from 48p to 28p, (I can make a mean HM pizza
)
But since stopping smoking (erm yesterday) I have £9.00 in the fag money pot which kinda makes up for it.
Im great at planning stuff on paper but as soon as it comes to actually doing it.....well as above

Don't be hard on yourself! At least you are trying and everyone falls off the OS wagon sometimes and there is more excuse when you are new to it all. Good luck for the future.
ps Anyone know why I can't use my smilies anymore?? Other than the one above naturally!0 -
Never mind, you'll catch up with yourself sooner or later.

I do a list and put it straight in my bag and if need be- keep adding to it,without it I end up spending a small fortune

Well done for giving up the smoking, that will save your life as well as your money! Budgetting gets easier with practice, so no slapping needed just yet. And at least you blew your cash in Lidl so you must have got loads for your money!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Thanks everyone for making me feel better
Thinking about it Ive still spent less than I would have done pre-OS so its not all bad.
On a positive note a friend has invited me and my girls to scarborough in August (son will be in spain) so thats what my NSF (no smoking fund) will be spent on :jGood enough club member number 140 -
i am the same. on paper i am wonderful, but the min i forget the shopping oh god all hell breaks loose. it like everything just jumps into my trolley. i don't need it , i don't want it. but for some reason i buy it. but with my list i stick to it. and i enjoy crossing the items off as i put them in the trolley.
last month i spent nearly a week writing a shopping list. i hade all meals planned i had everythin done. i got to the supermarket, and i'd forgetten my lsit. i almost cried. i would of gone home but it a 10 miles drive and i didn't have long as had other stuff planned.
and congrats on the smoking. £9 in a day saved. just think in a month thats £270, and in a year it's £3285. wow think of the pressie u could buy yourself as a reward for not smoking for a year.
think i might encourage my hubby even more to stop smoking. he might then be able to afford the Evo 3 he wants.0 -
Out of curiosity, and also cos I know what I'm like when I forget my list, did you manage to buy the things that were on the list?0
