Hi there,
I am just about to start the ball rolling claiming back ppi. The only thing that im struggling with is .......
I originally got a bank loan about 11 years ago. During that time i have had a few loans/top ups and its been an ongoing thing since then, if you understand what i mean ? One loan would pay the other off etc . . .
How do i go about reclaiming ? i.e. When do i put that the policy started from and do i have to date every 'top up' that ive had ?
Help ! lol

Hi Steve and welcome
Do you have all the account numbers for all the loans you taken out at all?
If so, if all the reasons are the same for being mis sold then you can write on one letter but to write down all account numbers they apply to.
If you have credit card ppi to reclaim as well, just keep these separate to the loan ppi reclaiming.
However, if you do not have hold of the account numbers and you bank with them, check on any old bank statements, as the account number for each loan should be shown next to the monthly repayments.
Another way to retrieve information is to request for a Subject Access Request (SAR), where they send all the information they hold on you, but the only snag is they do only mainly go back to holding your info for up to the last 5/6 years - saying that last year on one of my SAR's I was lucky to even receive information going back as far as the late 90's, so you never know.
If they are unable to send you any information at all they should let you know in writing, there is a payment of £10 postal order or cheque payment required for the SAR, and they have 40 days to comply, again if they are unable to send you any details at all the payment will be returned to you as well.

Or:
if you still bank with these, call into your local branch for the first attempt and ask if they would be kind enough to supply you with all your information on all loan accounts you have taken out with them, hopefully they will do so free of charge, account numbers will do.

Check this out, a checklist of mis selling reasons, template letters, I would personally just use the templates here as a guide with your own words if you can and of course if any of the reasons apply to you in the checklist also write them in as well.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond.
Post within the post office and ask for a receipt so you can be assured of safe posting and keep an eye on the timescales too.
Hope this helps, good luck, post up for help anytime too, and please keep us posted, cheers.
