During the course of this evening, an overpowering smell that is like germolene or TCP has developed in my kitchen and the adjacent dining room. I can't find the source and have neither of these things in the house.......anyone got any ideas what it may be?? Thx!

I would agree with that, some electrical failures cause a smell similar to that, many people describe it as a fishy type smell. Caused by overheating in an plastic part of a socket or fitting.
Have a smell around, it should be trackable.0
