Asda 50% price increase

Hi All

After a hard weeks work I usually look forward to a nice glass of proper Cider

Asda sells Westons Organic Cider in a box and it is lovely traditional style cider.

Just over £6 for a 3L box

Went in there today to get one and they have put the price up to over £9

I though it must be a mistake but I asked them to scan it and it was correct.

I just put it back on the self and walked out in disbelief

I'm gutted

Expect to see it on a great "special offer" next week where you save 33% or something.

Either that or the price will go back down to £6 then they'll be gloating about the rollback on the price.

If you like a drop of cider try and track down a bottle of Henney's vintage (black bottle) very nice drop.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

They do the same mucking about on the bottles of Leffe that I like (Tesco do also), have it at 3.49 one month, then it goes to 2.50, and then back again and so on, quite ridiculous fluctuation really of 40%, I dont know what they think they achieve by it apart from annoying their customers, but I obviously never buy at the higher price.
Aha, so thats how you do a signature!

I will have to keep an eye out for when it is cheap and stock up

I though I would check out westons own website to see how much they are selling it for and it was also £9 even if you buy it by the 20lt box it is roughly the same price per lt

    Cheers

  • Tesco's do this all the time with wine and many of their wine offers have over inflated original prices anyway. I noticed that they sell quite a few brands of cider in Netto but not being a cider drinker I don't know what's good. I've only recently started popping in there after seeing so many offers posted on this forum!

    Thanks Guys

I don't think we have a Netto near us. I have never seen one.

I think i am going to have to search around a bit and buy in bulk

  • Tesco do this constantly, it makes it difficult to write a shopping list because you don't know if things are going to be cheap or extortionate when you get there!!

    Tesco value shortbread:
    Was 9p
    Then 1.26
    Now 13p

All in the space of 3 weeks!!

Shopping in tesco is a total mind game

The constant price manipulation really bugs me. It can't all be due to fluctuating wholesale prices. More like they put the price up so they can claim it's half-price a few weeks later, just like DFS.
