Winternals Software, the company co-founded by rootkit 'private eye' Mark Russinovich, was yesterday aquired by Microsoft...Terms of the acquisition, which was announced yesterday, were not disclosed...In his new role, Russinovich will help chart the future direction of the Windows platform as it adopts new virtualisation, security and multicore processor capabilities.
Good move if they allow Russinovich to do what he does best.

This can't be good. I've used Winternals stuff for yeaes, they have some superb free stuff.0

The Free stuff is sysinternals, maybe that will continue? Much of the paid for stuff from Winternals, works around Microsoft Security (to get at data from a dead PC etc.), so maybe Microsoft will stop development of those tools. Doesn't sound like good news to me, but we will see.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

God dann Microsoft both them and Symantec (Pc tools, Norton) seemed to want to buy every software company out, so much for customers choice. Dont they dare touch Acronis0
