Transferring Payments into new account?

I have just opened a new account going from a Natwest Step to a Current Plus. I now need to get all my wages, child benefit & tax credits etc transferred to the new account. As I am not technically a 'new' customer is there any service they offer to do this for me, or do I have to ring about & do it myself :rotfl:
Thanks
Thanks

When you opened the account was there any mention of a switching service, some banks offer this but may only be to new customers. Try calling their customer services and checking.0 -

No I can't recall anything, so probably just for new customers then. Will probably do it myself then just to make sure it is done!!!0 -

It's a new account so different account number. I guess I will just transfer everything myself - It shouldn't be too much hassle. I just need to make sure everything is ok with the acct first as there has been a mix up with my husbands surname. Natwest have said they will sort it, but have yet to receive anything through post, so not going to transfer until we do!!!
Thanks!0 -
I think the switching service is for moving Direct Debits across from other banks, but don't quote me on that.
When i changed i just rang the tax credit & child benefit offices & said i wanted to change the bank account that my money got paid into.
It was easily done and snag free.
For my wages i changed the details on our in house HR system.
Slightly OT but even though Nat West switched all my DDs, i still rang round to make sure they were all set up ok as a precaution!(c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places )

How silly a system is that then if indeed Nat West operate this way.
Surely changing the account type and keeping the same account number would be a lot less work all round unless I'm missing something?0 -

Yep, but 1. They apparently don't 'upgrade' step accounts, & 2. After filling in online application - choosing existing customer - & filling in all the details, they insist I put my husbands middle name down as his surname - apparently that is how it was entered on the form!?!? I have rung them to rectify as his chequebook & card obviously have the wrong name on them, pointed them to our other 2 accts to show them he is who is say he is, & they have said they will link the accts.0
