hole from patio door

Hi there

We got some builders to cut out the bricks below our living room window, so we could then install a patio door.

They placed the door on the outside wall, but it has left a big hole in the floor where the cavity is.

The plasterer has made good around the window, but what are we supposed to do with the hole in the floor?

Thank you

You can buy a white cill that you can place over the floor along the inside of the patio door

You should've asked your builder this before he left.

Any board that will cover the gap will do the job. My patio windows are set so as to cover the cavity themselves. With the cill that is part of the window sticking out on the outside of the wall. are you
sure that the windows are correctly positioned. I would suggest that you put a photo up.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

In my view, I would go further and line it with damp proof membrane and then fill the gap with concrete so it is flush to the floor. You can then carpet etc without having a different level which you will have if you cover it with a board.

you should never fill with concrete above the DPC level. use insulation instead and final covering with a wooden cill.
    Get some gorm.

It will usually be at dp level, more the point the dpm will have been removed in the gap, which is why lining first with membrane it will maintain the dp.
