Reclaiming Bank Charges

Hi everyone,

I hope i'm posting in the right section.

basically i just checked my bank statement online and i've gone over my overdraft limit incurring me in a £30 fine, it was only a few days ago i went through all my statements online (well back to july 2002) and noticed i've paid £310 in unpaid standing orders, and direct debits.

My question is can i e-mail my bank asking for these payments back or should i send a letter?

The bank in question is LloydsTSB.

Thanks

You can claim back charges up to six years previous. But the more important question here is, why did it take you years to notice them? Keeping a close eye on your accounts in future can save you the trouble/expense.

To be honest i rarely go over my O/D limit, and very rarely miss a DD or S/O, on the statements i read it says OVERDRAFT EXCESS FEE - now these range from £25 to £30, is this the sort of charges that i can claim back??
