Sale of Goods act help

I am having major problems with my oil boiler and want to reject the faulty one (just under three years old).

How would I word an email and follow up letter to the company?

Help would be much appreciated:)

Have you got a report stating the nature of the fault from a registered fitter/engineer? I'd start there.

Write to them stating all the steps taken so far to fix the boiler, and that you've now run out of options and want a replacement.

What steps have been taken so far?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Just to clarify some terminology for you. Rejection is only possible within a "reasonable" period of time, of which 3 years is not - so avoid using this language if you can.

You should stick to terms in SOGA that cover accepted goods - "durable" is the main one that would apply here.

  • Engineer's are now on first name terms! Have sent preliminary email to the manufacturers stating problems and hope that this may get someone moving in the right direction.

The boiler is my parents, they are pensioners. I have exactly the same model boiler 5+ years old, installed by the same team and mine is perfect, no probs with efficiency at all.

Thanks for your pointers, will let you know where we get.
  • PS Parents wanted to reject boiler when it arrived due to missing parts (!) but as old boiler had been 'decommissioned' they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. It has never worked properly since.

Rang Warmflow (Ireland) this pm, email had been ignored. Engineer said:-
    a) Boiler would not be sent out missing parts, we must have been mistaken. (The whole front panel was missing! including instructions)
    b) It's an old one anyway (2 1/2 years old?)
    c) get an engineer out. (again!)

Parents now on day 5 without heat or water.

Rang engineer and he said he was very busy installing new boilers and he didn't want to leave people without heat or water! but, he will try and call tomorrow after 3pm......
