Child Tax credit - is it paid in arrears?

I get CTC weekly, was £128 (received last payment this tuesday - 23rd Feb). Called HMRC on monday to tell them my partner had moved in that day (22nd Feb) - they said they would cancel my claim and would send forms for new claim (still waiting for forms! They are so slow). Anyway, do you think TCs are paid in arrears and so will this weeks payment be an overpayment?

Thanks in advance..

They will only backdated to the date you've enter when you fill in the new form because they've cancel the old CTC you were getting.

    hope this helps

I think the weekly payments are paid in advance, while 4 weekly payments are paid 2 weeks in arrears and 2 in advance.
  • Thanks everyone....got the forms. Sent them off saturday. Anyone know how long it takes normally for them to process? I asked them as per the phone operative to backdate to 23rd Feb

Im pleased that love and companionship won out and you still moved in together despite losing (consoladating) benefits.

I hope you are all very happy together, good luck for the future.

It took our claim four weeks to do. which is about average, but they did backdate it all.

Thanks, we were a LOT better off not living together (about £100 -£150 per week better off) - but we been married, divorced and now back together.

We all change with age and sometimes the devil you know is better than the weirdo you might meet, you at least have a strong bond with shared memories in the past and kids, hopefully this time with age mellowing you both you can have a nice solid future together.

I mean no offence with the above, but some of my friends are in the same boat and doing well!
