Weekend away

Hi,
We're thinking about a weekend in Stratford-Upon-Avon mid April - neither of us has been.
And we're wondering if anyone has suggestions on what is best to see and do there?
I've heard the area is very beautiful - I imagine if the weather's good, we'll have plenty to do - but if it isn't?
Or if someone has another suggestion for a better location in the same region, we just want a short, fairly cheap, relaxing break.
Thanks

Warwick castle isnt too far away and you can get two for one tickets from places like whsmiths, the sun etc.
Also stratford & warwick races might be on around then, two very nice racecourses.0 -
I'll check those oyt - thanks0

Me and my other half went to Stratford Upon Avon last year. We booked tickets to see the Tempest but once we arrived we panicked that it wouldn't be our thing and we woun't enjoy it. We very nearly didn't go and were going to waste £60 on the 2 tickets and just go to the pub. Thakfully we went and had a FANTASTIC night!
I was a little disappointed in Stratford Upon Avon itself because although some of the buildings were beautiful, all in all the area wasn't as quaint as I was expecting.
Having said that, we will be going back at some point to see another Royal Shakespeare Company production.
We also stayed in a very nice hotel, just over the water by a Thai Restaurant (I wouldn't recommend the restaurant) but I can't remember the name of the hoel. It was about £60 a night for the two of us.
Warwick Castle was good, although v expensive at £17 each from memory. Definitely look for a 2 4 1 voucher on the net.
I hope you have a lovely time.

It's Shakespeare's birthday in April. Imagine there will be lots going on - just find out which weekend is the nearest date to it.0
