I suspect you will have a hard time finding one, i havent seen one for years.

As an alternative why not use a paraffin heater under a large sand tray. The heat will rise warming the sand and subsequently whatever he wants to plunge into the sand, pots or trays etc. I suspect that will be an easier option than finding a paraffin prop today.

I'm sure alanobrien is right - I haven't seen one of these for years, either.

I also think he's onto something about a conventional heater. The smallest of the Parasene range - the model designed for coldframe use - puts out a very small amount of heat and I imagine could be put to this use with a bit of jiggery pokery.

Oh that's interesting, as my friend's Dad who is a keen gardener apparently has an ancient one of these, & having no electricity supply to the greenhouse, I was quite interested in finding out more. At the moment, I have ordinary unheated propagators with peppers, tomatoes, chillies, etc, sown in them, but it's just too cold here, even on an indoor windowsill to get things germinating. Yesterday, I half filled a hot water bottle and put it underneath the whole thing and that seemed to warm things up, judging by the condensation. Have done the same this morning. It seemed a low-tech way of maybe achieving something similar. Will post again if it actually seems to work!

Hi Foxgloves that made me chuckle do you give 'em cocoa or horlicks ?:rotfl:When our greenhouse is filling up we light one or two of those big church candles and put them under terracotta pots ,just overnight and it's surprising how it keeps the chill off.We bought a good electric greenhouse heater but with the hike in fuel bills it's now gathering dust:(
