My camera uses xds, but for general interest may I ask what are the pros and cons, not exclusively dwelling on cost, of each card type?

Not alot of difference really apart from the format. The demand and availability basically dictates the price. SD is very popular therefore cheaper.
Some run at different speeds, which is useful for video or continuous shooting.

The main differences tend to be in size, durability and compatibility - the likes of CF are good as the pins are covered and so less prone to damage but the cards are bigger so limits the minurisation of any device which uses them. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Another stone in the pool, and it is probably an innocent or an idiotic question.
Is a 1gig card of type A of the same absolute capacity as type B as type C and so on; does the configuration architecture make some more efficeint than others?0
