Both will be really nice weather, similar to the UK.
Krakow -
Allow plenty of time for Auchwitz.
Dont go to the salt mine unless you have a real fascination with salt mines - we found it pretty boring.
Just wander round lots and enjoy the architechture and quirky coffee shops.
Go out to Zakopane, in the countryside, really good scenery. And if, you know, your history...0 -
I am planning to go to Gdansk as that's where most of my family is situated.
Has nice beach and historic tourist place but also good bars and clubs.
Zakopane/Krakow I tend to go around Xmas and New Years as snow is good down there!
Found any good deals for either? wizzair.com seem to be cheapest for flights. my cousin owns a travel agency there so will sort an apartment out for me - hopefully!0 -
Auchwitz and Zakopane are long days out and on a short break may not have enough time to see Krakow itself.
In Gdansk however you will be there just in time for the Jarmark Dominikanski (Dominican Fair), huge three week fair taking up the centre of Gdansk with art culture music food and more amber than you are ever likely to imagine.
I wish I was going...:wall:0 -
For those that have been to gdansk/krakow how easy is it to get by with phrase book polish.

Krwkow will be alot nicer than Gdansk. There are more English speakers oin Krakow which gets you by but less so in Gdansk which can be a real struggle sometime. When we went I used one of the online phrasebooks that change what tyou want to say into another language ie Polish. If you are going on the train the definately do that.
I wrote a bit about Poland HERE**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0
