I love looking at the nik-naks, I got a beautiful piece of Mexican pottery for a few pounds (someone must have brought it back from a holiday), it's nice to have unique things in the home that are found like on a treasure hunt.
Alot of charity shops over price their books IMO, but there are a few great ones for books and we have picked up some good buys.0 -
I have just been reminded of one of the best CS buys I have made whilst cutting out a pinafore dress for my GD.
A few months ago we visited Bridlington and I went into a CS where I couldn't believe my eyes. They were selling wool suiting at £2.99 a metre.
I bought 12 metres.
Apparently a tailor's shop in Scarborough had closed and donated stock to the CS.
So it is in store and getting used as and when...hope the moths don't find it!!!0 -

I was in a charity shop in town, and while looking through the books and thinking how I would have bought a couple had they been a bit cheaper, I overheard the guy behind the counter saying to a customer (who also happenned to be saying something was too expensive) "well make me an offer, .. if you don't like the price, just come and see me".
Anyone else haggled in a charity shop?0 -
I saw a Topshop dress in Oxfam today for £14.99 !!! I have this dress which cost me £11 in the sale in Topshop brand new. Charity shops are greedy and I hardly ever buy there now, I used to love hunting for bargains but they have priced themselves out of my market and I'm sure I am not alone in this thought. I agree about the local hospice and charity shops they are much more reasonable.0

I've totally kitted myself out with a work wardrobe for £30 in a day at the local charity shops. That's a load of black trousers, about 15 tops, 2 full suits and a gorgeous Next petites suit jacket with is awesome (and £40 on it's on in the store!). Also some waistcoats, and a floor length chinese dress I couldn't resist. Got it home to find the lower hem wasn't in brilliant condition, but just need to take it up - after all I'm only 5ft 2 anyway! This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Couldnt help myself, just been out to get a few things and popped into a few charity shops. Bought 3 items from the first one, 1 brand new winter tunic top still with tags for £3.50 and a top for wearing out in the evening for £1.50 plus a lovely pair of linen trousers for my 11 y/o for £1.45. I am a big lady so tops in my size tend to be rare and this particular charity shop is usually expensive but had reduced 2 out of 3 of my items. So its always worth looking.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

We've got 6 in my town, from Oxfam to a local hospice shop, and I use them all the time. Prices vary, and Oxfam is most expensive, but none of them are too bad round here because it's not a wealthy area. Best buys in the last couple of weeks; a silk & cotton cardigan from Hobbs for £3 and a Kosta Boda Atoll tealight holder, with all the stickers on, for 99p!:dance:0

Gosh, anything from Hobbs for £3 is fantastic!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I know! I'd only gone in looking for stuff I could rip apart to make a fancy dress outfit. Would have been rude not to buy it though!0
