Debts over Six years old

I have two defaults both from 03/06/2000 with the same company, now I am in the understanding that if I have never paid anything or admitted liability these debts should now be Statute Barred, as over 6 years and 1 day has now passed.

These defaults are now 6 years 1 Month and 11 Days old, too late or not

Today I have recieved a letter dated 14th July 2006 giving me two days to pay theses debt's or they will issue a claim against me in my local court.

Are they just using sacre tactics, hoping I would simply pay because they said I need to, can they get a ccj for a debt so old and when I asked for Statutory Information in Feb06 they ignored my request.

Some advice would be good as it takes weeks to get an appointment with my CAB.

Thanks in advance

Also does asking for Statutory information give them the right to start action? or do you have to acknowledge the debt first?

I wrote them a Statutory letter in Feb 06, asking for a true signed copy of agreement, a statement of account and stating I do acknowledge any debt to your company.

I have not paid anything or acknowledged these debts,

Is it the same with CCJs?

I have actually satisfied the debts about 4 years ago, but the ccjs are from 1999.

I thought the 6 year rule was if they hadn't managed to contact you within the 6 years? Ie they have 6 years to make contact to get the debt paid. As they HAVE contacted you within 6 years of the last contact (debt occuring) then you'd still owe the money. But I could be wrong...

Providing the CCJ is satisfied, it is removed from your credit file 6 years after the date of the judgement.

No. It's all about the OP admitting the debt or making a payment within the 6 years.
