Oooo! Thanks Bubble. Very similar - good find! Will study it tonight at home, though size 10 is a bit wishful thinking!!!

Edit: Or maybe not as bidding has ended. :( As for size, by the time I get wed I intend to be a small 12 (IYSWIM) and I haven't got shoes yet, but 5' 7/8"ish with mid-height shoes. Maybe wedges.

Shoes shoes shoes! Now I have absolutely no idea what I'm after, but I'm looking for burgundy shoes. Heel cannot be more than 1.5inches otherwise I'll tower over OH. I don't think I want open-toed shoes.

I have no idea about shoes at all; usually I'm found kicking around in my knee-high boots or trainers. Has anyone seen any burgundy shoes on their travels?

(yes, I realise that this is a very open-ended request)

Why not look for some that can be dyed? Or how about THESE?

Well, have moved on from the ultra-expensive Amanda Wakeley dress - tried something similar at the weekend and it was heavy and would be too warm for a Greek wedding.

But fell in love with a sort of Grecian style dress called Jemima 2, but can't find out the designer. It had tank style straps, an open back, empire waist with some beading and fancy stitching all the way round, pleated skirt falling straight like a column and a train (regular size train, don't know what length). I nearly cried I was so happy with it BUT it's £500 and is the last one in the sale, so gotta decide quick!!!!

Would it be cheeky to offer them £300 cash? It'll need fitting and that's still a lot but liked the dress sooooo much! Have found similar on the t'interweb but you can't really tell from tiny pics! Oh what to do, what to do!!?!?!?! :(

Edit: ought to add my reasoning for offering £300 cash - the dress is in Bury, Lancashire. I am in Cambridgeshire. It wouldn't be convenient for fittings. So I was thinking, offer them the cash and take it off their hands - no cost to them for alterations etc - and find a seamstress nearer home. Am also completely paranoid of paying for a dress, leaving it with them and then the shop going bust and me not being able to get my dress off them. Geez! I'm not even getting wed until Sep 2011!!!!!

This dress is very, very similar (4th on top row) but 'mine' has a train, no beading on the straps and no floaty bit off the back. Am in love!! Want to cry when I think about it. Oh, 'mine' was called Jemima 2 but don't know the designer.

There's one in Monsoon that looks similar to the photo you've shown:

You might be able to get it altered by somone to include a train?

Totally okay to offer that, my dress was £900, reduced to £500 in the sale and I haggled down to £300!!

Thanks Rainbowdrops- that is lovely!! But am slightly fixated on the other one!! I say slightly though it dominates my every thought and I have been dreaming about it, and wondering how I will get it to Greece etc etc. Not obsessed me?!:D

ETA: was sending my mum with £300 cash to try and get it for me with the intention of getting it altered nearer home - but am now wondering how much alterations would cost? It needs the straps shortening, it might need taking up depending on the shoes I wear and it will hopefully need taking in as I intend to lose weight. Its a size 14 and I would try to be a 12 by then.

Can anyone give me a clue how much alterations would cost as it might be worth still haggling for a low price AND still getting them to do any, if they will? Hmm.

Joho, alterations can vary quite a bit, shop around for quotes, Linda our resident dressmaker may be able to help with a rough guide, but I don't imagine it would be very expensive.

Poppy, will keep an eye out, nothing showing yet, but only done a brief look!

    Poppy means D964 not 694, I think.

Frannyann- thanks for that. Any rough idea would be useful but am thinking if I get £500 dress for £300, the alterations aint gonna cost me £200 so it would be well worth it!
