Hello all,

We are thinking of a coach trip type holiday to Europe with Austria in mind. So all you forum peeps out there can I ask for:

1) Recommended companies
2) Itinerary ideas
3) Ways to get 5* for 2* prices

Many thanks

  • we went on our first ever coach trip last autumn. 11 days, half board and all day trips included. We went to the Italian lakes but also went though Switzerland and Austria. Fantastic, air conditioned luxury coach. We booked thinking that at £500 each there wasn`t much to lose. It happened to be one of the best ever holidays abroad that we have ever been on.

We are recently back from malta via saga and gatwick and never again. The whole experince by air is horrible, the crowds, baggage handling and wasted days. We will be going by coach in future and can even get home pick up. Local company so irrelevant to the op and luckily we have 2 excellent companies to choose from

Which company did you go with kittie?

I have had several holidays with Shearings and enjoyed all except a very cold Christmas in Tuscany. Been to France, Poland x 2, and some other places, and always enjoyed it and liked the people.

Be careful of noting whether it's overnight coach or not (doesn't bother me, but it might you), and also check the hotel with TripAdvisor, so that you can see what you're getting and whether to ask for a specific room or not when you book with the coach company.

All trips and holiday I have taken have been excellant, only bugbear to me was the single person supplement which sometimes is about half the price of the holiday which puts me off.
I now go away with my Dd and family for a fornight and we rent a house in the UK,this year as last it will be on the Isle of wight as we had a great time last year.
I am off to the Cotswolds for a week in April with a friend of mine,we rent a cottage every year for a week and self-cater
