advice required please re small claims

hi all, this is my first post in here and i'd like to appologise in advance if it seems a bit cryptic!

i am about to start proceedings to take a company to small claims court for mis selling me an electrical item and continually lying about it! i have been in touch with trading standards and they are already aware of this company - seems i am not the only one!

i have also spoken to the manufacturer of my product and they are fully aware of this company too - they have sent me information through via email to help my case, and also informed me that because of this company's dodgy dealings they are also taking measures to prevent this happening in the future but by doing so will render my product non future proof.

so my question to you guys is, what happens with a small claim? has anyone here done it, can you advise what i should expect?

kind regards
merlin

  • Hi merlin1,

Can I politely suggest that you use the forum Search function (search for "small claims" as well as "moneyclaimonline"). This should turn up a variety of threads on this topic which will provide both general info and individual experiences.

I am not sure anyone of the helpful people on here will be inclined to run through a general essay on the issue again.

An outline of the process can also be found on the moneyclaimonline website.

It's a very informal process but you do need to be sure of your case. I should say that "misselling" of a product sounds a difficult one to prove.

Care to give some more facts?

I would avoid moneyclaimonline for anything other than simple matters.
