Bought myself a Acer Aspire 5672 but just hate the sound and can send it back. There are a few radio stations that can only be heard over the internet that I like listening too. I had a Toshiba which gave great quality sound.
Anyway i progress: I don't play games, but do use Office alot (especially excel, powerpoint, word) internet alot, wireless/bluetooth required, dvd watching and downloading music/pictures, advice needed please. Would like 15"4 screen, core duo.
I'm a little annoyed, I spent weeks searching laptops and decided the Acer 5672 was the one.

Acers sound is very tinny i agree.
Have you considered external speakers or headphones as a cheap fix?
Have a look here for laptop support and reviews:

Agree with Hillfly, you should think about external speakers if you are concerned about the sound from laptop speakers.
To be honest you're not going to get as good sound from a laptop as a desktop as the soundcard on laptops is often basic and the speakers as you have discovered often quite tinny.
Some higher end laptops do come with decent speakers, I remember one having Harmon Kardon's that were supposed to be quite decent.0 -

i assume you mean 'digress' as in you get off topic?
most laptop speakers are crap... so best bet is external ones or headphones.
one exception to this, is some Asus laptops have amazing sound. When i worked in a pc shop we were selling one around christmas with the speaker on the underside of the laptop, and the sound was incredible.. even given its position.0 -
my acer aspire has decent sound. has a sub-woofer underneath.
aren't harmon kardon speakers are on toshibas ??NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"

I think only the Qosmio 30's got HK speakers and that's a bit above £800 (sadly)
John Lewis' website has an HP for £799, not bad spec. No idea what the sound is like. I run speakers from my ancient Dell as the sound is truly dreadful. The hassle then is does it have enough USB ports or the speakers are routed via a hub. Annoying if doable.0
