sky player on Windows 7 Media Centre - its not there

Hi, wonder if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I have just upgraded my laptop from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium courtesy of Dells upgrade programme. I already have sky player installed with a valid subscription and i believe sky player was going to be available to use with WMC. However, i don't have an Sky Player icon on my WMC as stated i should have and wonder how to fix this and make it available through WMC. Thanks

All i've got is recorded tv and live tv set up? currently downloading sky player again but i dont think its going to help, i assumed the skyplayer icon would automatically be included as its being advertised as now available in windows 7 wmc. This is really frustrating!

  • Found this on another site- may work for you hopefully

My Sky Tile Does Not Show Up!

I have heard of several cases where the sky tile has not shown up on the start menu. This could be caused by any one of the following problems.
    • The PC region must be set to UK
    • Manually download the latest updates for Windows Media Center
    • Graphics drivers need to support glass
    • A previous install of the sky player may need to be uninstalled manually
    • If all else fails do a full reset of Windows Media Center!!
    Correct PC Region Settings

The Sky title will only be displayed for users with UK region settings. Some custom installs of Windows may not have all the region settings correct configured.
To check your region settings open the Region and Language control panel (start menu | Region and Language):
    image_thumb[12].png
Make sure that the format is set to English (United Kingdom).
    image_thumb[17].png
Make sure the current location is set to United Kingdom.
    image_thumb[16].png
    Click the Copy settings… button
    region_thumb[2].png
Make sure that the Display language, input language, format and location are all set for each user account correctly. If not select the two check boxes welcome screen and system accounts and new user accounts, and click OK.
