My current lease is by month as my contract is up. Any idea how much notice i have to give, will it be one month.
Also if you want to move, then the timing is difficult as you need to first give notice, then find a place and also use your current deposit to put down on the new place, any tips here?

1 month notice to end on the last day of a rental period.
Assuming English law you will need to pay your new deposit before the return of your old deposit as it will take several weeks after the end of the tenancy for the deposit protection scheme to refund your deposit.0 -
My rental period ends on the 8th of each month, so I started looking for a property early. So for example, we went to see a house on Monday, loved it and the LA have held the house for us. I posted my application to the LA yesterday (although missed last post) so they should get that tomorrow. Hopefully, by the end of next week, I will get a phone call telling me whether our application was successful or not. Also if you want to move, then the timing is difficult as you need to first give notice, then find a place and also use your current deposit to put down on the new place, any tips here?
If we get that phone call by the Friday, we can post off our letter of notice to our current LA so that they receive it by 8th March so we can leave on the 8th April. So maybe start looking for a new place 6 weeks before you intend to move.
However, in our situation, the new LA can only hold the property for 3 weeks so at the end of the 3 weeks, we will have to start paying rent so will be paying rent for 2 houses for a couple of weeks. This is fine for us because then we can take our time moving our stuff from one house to the other.0 -
Save up for a new deposit and first months rent.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

You usually have to give one months notice and landlords have to give 2. Unless your landlord will let you stay on a rolling contract where you can stay until you find somewhere else? In my experience it can take a few weeks after you leave to get deposit back and you have to pay in advance for new property. Would probably mean saving up for next deposit, but at least when you get the old one back it will be a bonus for you!0
