What flooring do you have in the dining room?

And would you rate it?

We have just moved into a new home and currently have very slippery cheap laminate in there which the kids keep falling over.

The dining room has 3 doors going off it so is accessed by the kitchen, the living room and the conservatory. The living room is to be carpeted, and the kitchen and conservatory have ceramic black tiles with underfloor heating so all the rooms are cosy on the feet.

I'm thinking of laminate tiles as if I'm right, they would be warmer than ceramic tiles? I dont want carpet (2 kids - 15 months and 2.5 years) as it would be ruined in 5 minutes.

But are laminate tiles as bad as laminate flooring on the slippy aspect? Are there any other options I havent thought of? We're going window shopping this weekend probably but wont buy until Easter (hoping for lots of sales!)

Thanks in advance.

What's engineer wood? Is it like laminate? Is it slippery?

    Thanks for the reply.

sorry *engineered* wood, nope, not laminate, its like normal wood but as a veneer I think (?!) so it won't warp etc............ Anyway, I love ours and we have some nice crucial trading rugs so it doesn't feel too 'cold'.........

But to answer the op, yes, it is just as slippy, probably more so. We have solid oak flooring, now my twin grandsons are 5, they run 1/2 way accross the lounge/diner and slide completly across the floor, by the time they are 6 I'm sure they'll be diving staight out of the window ;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I've heard Karndean mentioned on this forum before but have no idea what it is! I think it is expensive though from what I remember - the room is 16m square so quite a lot of floor to cover.

I'll have a look to see how much it is and where I can see it. Thanks for the rec.

Do you recommend it cons? I dont know anyone who has it so I'd love your opinion. Is it slippery and does it feel warm (ish) underfoot?
