In November '09 we asked for my partner's award to be reconsidered. In January he was awarded HRC and HRC with no further review, and was not asked to attend a medical. So it can happen! A good guide is if you cannot use your arms and legs at all and if you need help constantly or at frequent intervals during both day and night (e.g. you can't turn yourself over).

In his case there is no real nuance. He is functionally tetraplegic with a tethered spinal cord and should have been getting that award, and social care and a whole host of benefits for many years--we were victims of a negligent inner-city GP, who left me to care for him unsupported at the age of 19 when I didn't know any better. I am 27 now (and a bit angry to be honest).

You are more likely to have your award taken away or lowered at review time rather than when you inform them of a change of circumstances ( Supersession ) esp if you have a lifetime award.

Most of the horror stories are based around when someone puts their review in, I would love to know what percentage of people( lifetime award) lose awards on a supersession, not many im sure. On a supersession you will either win an award or stay as you are, providing you have the lifetime award.
