Hi, I have been having fun and games with vanguard for a couple of months now. It appears that in the last few days the workwear websites have disappeared but strangely a company called apparel4outdoors.co.uk seem to have popped up round the corner in Batley operating from a PO box and have a very similar website layout and a phone number that doesn't work! I have just spoken to Simon at Action fraud (0300 123 2040 open till 8pm) and filed a full report with him. I got the impression that it will only be acted on if there are a lot of complaints. If you have lost money to these robbers then pick up the phone. I cant believe they are not in jail (never mind still trading) given the amount of people online who have been scammed. Action fraud also suggested ringing the police.0

I ordered goods from this site 30 days ago and still no goods and no reply to my emails.
STAY AWAY
Their site seems to have vanished, along with my money I presume.
My bank where very helpful and have promised a full refund and will report them to the police if they try to take any more money from my card as they now have my card details, EVERYONE BEWARE.0 -
i tried knocking on the door of the shop to get my money back on batley road and there was no answer. but I met a nice man who I'm guessing was a bailiff or something who said they are closing down the company and they'd taken out anything worth anything!!
i've looked at the other website apparel4outdoors and if you do a search its run by ian hall. vanguard is run by warren hall!!! looks seriously dodgy to me.
these guys look like fraudsters to me - i'm going to be making my complaint with the fraud squad.0 -
My bank has just refunded my money and is perusing them.0

I too have been stung by Vanguard Safety Products (using their www[dot]vanguardworkwear[dot]co[dot]uk website which has since now disappeared). I ordered goods 2-3 months ago but many attempts since then to contact them by email and phone resulted in no replies and no-one ever picking up the phone at the other end.
My bank has now initiated a refund of my money while they continue to try and dispute the money with the retailers bank.
However, a fresh search on this company indicates that they already appear to have gone into liquidation so anyone still waiting is definitely not going to get their goods now. For anybody who has also been stung and haven't yet contacted their bank then I suggest you do so immediately without further delay. It appears that as a new member I cannot post links so you will have to replace all references to "[dot]" in the above links with "." to visit the web pages.0 -
Hello all,
we run a local (south west wales) trade counter selling safety boots and work wear mainly to the oil and gas industry.
I'd just like to suggest something to everyone on this forum and that is don't forget your local suppliers of workwear and safety wear.
We all know that you can get great deals on the web but if you have a reputable supplier they will always take on board a (realistic) price you have been quoted either by mail order or by the web - added to this you also get the chance to try things on to make sure that they fit.
Don't abuse us though by calling in to try on and then buy on the web!
The main story is talk to us!
As far as I can see from the limited time I've spent looking at the Vanguard story it's a classic case of 'cheapest ain't always best'
If you do buy on line that's fine (I do myself where I can't get a local supplier to be reasonable) but do look in to the company details part of the website before entering card details - good ones will be easily contactable and also give you their company registration etc... bad ones hide behind po boxes and 'email only contact'
Happy buying all
