Vanguard Safety Products

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but be aware of a similarish operation to the Ugg boot scam that there was over christmas. Vanguard Safety Products operate around a dozen websites selling workwear brands such as Snickers, Dewalt, Projob, Caterpillar, Helly Hansen etc. All their websites have official sounding titles such Caterpillarworkwearonline Dewaltsafetywear Hellyhansenworkwearonline etc. Their snickersdistribution site is currently down for technical reasons and has been for the last week at least.

All their websites are for example "dewaltsafetygearT/A Vanguard Safety Products and have Yorkshire addresses. They immediately debit your account and then fail to deliver your items, they fail to answer any emails and their phone number is an answerphone. If you google "Vanguard workwear reviews" you will find many dissatisfied customer some having waited months for never arriving items. Their websites really are very convincing and I fell for it completely, I have a substantial order outstanding and have had the full amount debited from my account, fortunately my bank have been very understanding and have put actioned a chargeback so fingers crossed I will receive my money back. They have an Ebay presence too which at last checking had around 80ish negatives and 80ish neutrals from the last year alone. Dont be a mug like me and fall for it!

  • I have had the same problem with this company, paid money, received no goods. A look on google street view shows the registered address as a derelict and boarded up unit.

I have been in touch with Consumer Direct who are investigating. I urge anyone who has been duped by this company to report them too, this is obviously not an isolated case. Here are the details of my contact at consumer direct:

    Elaine McKone

    Consumer Direct

    Tel: 08454 04 05 06

Also, if you paid on a visa debit card you can still claim your money back from your bank. Speak to your banks fraud department and say you wish to make a claim under the Visa Chargeback scheme. This protection covers all visa cards, INCLUDING DEBIT cards, do not just assume there
is nothing you can do... there is!

Dont be a mug, do something about it!
  • we have access to the risk disc system and this company has no credit limit and will probably cease trading pretty soon.

if by chance your lucky and havent paid as yet, please dont.... other wise be sure its on a credit card to cover yourself.

    ta.
  • Just to add to this thread - On 11 April I ordered from what I thought was projobdistribution's website (but it turns out it was Vanguard's site with ProJob plastered all over it) a pair of trousers, a free(!) top, a belt, and mobile phone attachment, all ProJob brand.

Concerned by the order's non-arrival I did email what I now realise to be Vanguard to chase it and was a bit alarmed at the automated response but the goods did, in fact, turn up on the 28th, followed by one item not included, a couple of days later.

Unfortunately, the trousers were too big and the top much too small (wasn't clear on the website that the sizes were women's not men's) and I immediately emailed them for a returns number, as per instructions on their website, in order to get a refund.

Not only have I heard nothing but the phone isn't answered and the link to Vanguard's own website is broken. Having now read this thread I can see why and guess I should consider myself lucky that (a) I did actually receive the goods, and (b) it's not a huge amount of money. (I think any idea of returning them for a refund is best forgotten!)

However, it might be useful for anyone in this thread to know that the order was fulfilled by: United Brands of Scandinavia, Unit 1, Hirwaun Industrial Estate, Hirwaun, CF44 9UP. Tel: 01685 812 111; Fax: 01685 815 090 - who, according to the person I spoke to, are also owed a lot of money by Vanguard! (Which does make me wonder why my order was fulfilled.) Clearly, to be avoided at all costs.
  • Hi all, I'm new to this so please bear with me.
Is this the same vanguard safety products that are advertising on Ebay?? If so I have just ordered 5 fruits of the loom t-shirts which were delivered today. I paid by paypal and the total was £13.62 which includes the postage. I waited only 2 days for the order to arrive. I've googled the name of the company and the addresses shown indicate that this might be the same company?
Good luck to the people having problems with their orders, and I hope where necessary receive full rebates from either the company or their banks/credit card company's
    All the best
    Graham

I tried this number, but no reply
  • Well I wish I'd checked them out before hand. Haven't received my order either, but my bank is in the process of getting my money back. Don't let them get away with it if you've paid and not got anything. Your bank will return you your money if you've waited 30 days and have not got your goods.

I contacted my bank as I ordered a jacket on 17 August and had no reply to emails sent and still no jacket. The bank say they can only get me my money back if they can get hold of the company and that they are still trading! Since I called the bank a few weeks ago the status on my account shows that my order has been cancelled and refunded but I havent had any money returned.

I bought some items via credit card earlier this month that have not arrived should I get onto my card company now or do I have to give them 30 days from the date of order?
