Elephant & Castle Tesco faulty chillers

To anyone on here who has the misfortune to shop at Tesco in Elephant & Castle: I would advise you not to buy milk, fresh juice or fish from this store. I say this because tonight is the second time I've been in there and found certain chiller cabinets to be displaying either illegally high temperatures, or ALARM. This is backed up by the chillers feeling just as warm as the rest of the shop, and the products feeling warm too. A woman commented that the milk bottles seemed a bit like they were bulging (milk turning), and the butter in a packet of kippers had started to melt! Also the freezers containing ice lollies weren't cold - I picked up a box which was soggy and dripping!

I told an assistant thinking he might do something about it or inform a manager, but the response was "Why you tellin' me?". I didn't have time to struggle to find a manager in there, though my dealings with the management of that store in the past have proven less than productive (complaints over rude staff, queues 12 people deep and empty shelves) so it would have been pointless anyway.

I've informed Southwark's environmental health department, so perhaps now they might take some notice.

In the meantime: stay away from the fish!
