PC World Insurance

Evening All

In the last few weeks I have sent my PC back to PC World for repair as it had 2 faulty USB ports on the front of the PC and an input/output error on the DVD drive.
Today I received a letter saying that my PC was going to be replaced and my insurance had been cancelled and I have been given £420 to spend in store which is stated on the letter and I need to take 2 forms of ID.
When I bought the PC new it cost £840 and i have been paying £8.99 a month for about 4 years for the insurance.
PC World havent given me the choice of having my old PC back, and with the insurance I thought I would have been refunded the full amount

AM I BEING UNFAIRLY TRATED OR IS THIS NORMAL

Any advice on this matter would be appreciated

Thanks

If they're giving you an amount that'll allow you to purchase a PC of an equivalent spec to your original, regardless of what you paid for it, then yes this would be fair. Try reading the terms & conditions of the warranty.

The insurance cost is irrelevant and so is the price you paid. Computers have dropped massively in price and you will be able to get a much better computer for the £420, if you can't, ring them up and they'll send you any extra money you need to get a pc at least as good as the one you had. Good luck!

The stores are now able to increase vouchers if there is a good reason why the suggested replacement is not suitable/of same spec.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

No offence but its not the most slick of procedures is it? I had to wait insotre for several hours whilst they had to over double my vouchers......
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

They've changed it in recent weeks to be quicker. Now the store just overrides the price of the vouchers at the till and laters sends an email to explain why they did it.

If the powers that be don't agree, the store gets charged the difference, and the customer is long gone!

You're not being unfairly treated. You can get a better computer for the voucher price than you did originally. You arguably made a poor decision going to PC World in the first place but what can you do. Before you sign up for more insurance, you might want to consider how much you've paid in total at £8.99 a month for 4 years.

Technically the PC World covers are not Insurance Policies
