hi. i've had a prepay elec meter for my 2 bed top floor flat since moving in 4 1/2 years ago. so far i've been charged about £6500. this seems very excessive to me, especially as elec/gas prices have only been 'really high' in the last 2ish years, and i didn't owe any ££ b4 moving. i'd like to know how i can go about finding out if i've been overcharged, and if i have, how to go about claiming it back.
Thanx

Before we say anything we need to know abit more like what type of heating you had, big plasma tvs ect?
You can your supplier for a bill which will tell you price and how much you've used/ paid for but I dont know if they'll back date for 4 years.
As the meter faults/powering someone else flat switch everything off see if your meter still going.
If your on economy & check your time switch hasnt failed.0 -
I doubt that you have been overcharged. You have, however, probably cost yourself a lot of money. By not switching to the cheapest prepayment tariffs regularly you could easily have paid 25% more than necessary. And by not switching to a credit meter and paying by direct debit you may have paid 40% more than necessary. That's an extra one-and-a-half to two-and-a-half thousand pounds.0
