Sounds like a good deal, too good to be true! Is Simplify Digital reliable for getting cashback off though? Has anyone joined through these previously? Also, I can't see much difference between Virgin M TV package and freeview except Living, Virgin and Movies 24? I guess these are just bonuses anyway considering the overall price seems to be the cheapeast for line rental + bb. I currently pay £18.50 for TalkTalk and can't find any cheaper packages than £16.

Is it hard to switch back to another company after the 12 months are up as it's cable? Will my phone still be connected? At the moment, BT will reactivate my line from TalkTalk for free but if Virgin take over, does that mean my line will be disconnected? I have no idea what they use for their phone line..

Thanks

Virgin lay their own drop cable from their street cabinet to your home therefore the BT line will no longer be needed as Virgin does not connect into the BT Telephone Excange.
Broadband on Virgin is sent over the same system as the TV and NOT the phone line so you cannot get ADSL broadband (ie O2/Sky ect) as Virgins phone set up is not ADSL compatable.
HOWEVER,Virgin NATIONAL is a ADSL based phone & broadband so Virgin would take over your BT line.

Hi Spike, thanks a lot, that's useful. I think the simplify digital deal is a cable one as it asks if you are in a cable area (http://www.simplifydigital.co.uk/virgin-media/virgin_media_cashback_deals.aspx)

So just to clarify, the BT line will no longer be needed, so will the line be disconnected meaning I would have to pay a reconnection fee if I want to go to BT after virgin or will it just need reactivation?

    Thanks

Possibly - but you'd have no control over that. It might be a simple case as a breakdown at the exchange meaning BT need to use the exchange card your line is currently on for a customer who is still with them and so engineering works would be required to reinstate your line.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Correct.
As to your second question,BT make their own rules up as they go along & sod every one else so I cant answer that one.
