Hi everyone,
Not sure if this has been posted before (tried to do a search but couldn't find anything)
Does anyone know what the sauce is that you get with your popadoms in an indian restrant. Its yellow and really really nice lol
Also if anyone knows how to make it that would be brilliant.
We asked at the takeaway but they wont give us the recipie lol
Many thanks
Lin

It might be a special sauce made at your local takeaway/restaurant. I've found that no 2 dipping sauces are the same, lol! If it's like a spicy, fruity, sweet sauce then it's probably mango chutney which you can buy in supermarkets. If it's something different they might just make it on the premises.
It's only a game

I asked at my local takeaway once and the chef said it was natural yoghurt, chopped mint (fresh or dried) and a teaspoon or so of caster sugar. I then asked how they got it the lovely yellow colour and he said 'a few drops of yellow food colouring'!! I LOVE the yellow sauce too!

I always used to make it with fresh mint, yoghurt & lemon juice until one day when I forgot to buy the fresh mint...so I used jarred mint sauce I was really surprised let me tell you when it tasted just like what I got with my takeaway! Give it a try!Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:

I always make it with mint sauce. This is what I do...add a teaspoon of sugar to a little hot water and stir until it dissolves. Then add a little turmeric (approx a quarter of a teasp) to the water. Mix this with a small carton of natural yoghurt and then add in a teaspoon of mint sauce and a little lemon juice. Stir it all well to make the consistency thinner. I tend to cook by eye so the quantities aren't exact so you may need to play about with it a bit. It keeps in the fridge for two or three days.
