  • I used the three stage Dulux trade paint last year and ended up with very hard to shift dermatitis after getting a few splashes of the aluminium primer on my skin (other exterior paints havent dont this) which wasnt properly cleaned off for a couple of hours , so if you use it (and it does seem to be a good paint) then make sure you cover up.

The other thing worth considering is go to one of the trade outlets that professional painters use in your area. We have Brewers where we live and they give excellent advice on what to use for all sorts of things and ordinary members of the public can buy there. But do remember cover up, it might make you feel a bit silly up the ladder looking like an alien but better than being called the itchy scratchy one for weeks later !!
"Many a mickle maks a muckle"... but just how many mickles do you need ? dont suppose a piece of string and a ha'penny will do this time:rotfl:
  • We have lived in some very old houses, weatherboarded cottages and the like. My husband only ever uses a paint called Sadlins (not sure if that is how you spell it but it is how you say it).

I use Jotun Trebitt (primer) and Demi-Dekk (top coat). Very expensive but seems to be very good. You can get it from Brewer's.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Have you not considered installing uPVC on your fascias & soffit’s?....I think it would be a lot quicker than sanding down & then applying the three part paint system that has been suggested. It will probably not cost a lot more to go the uPVC route….especially if you do the job yourself...it will also last a lot longer!
