Oxfam Alternative Teachers Gifts For End of Year
Options
Firstly, i apologise to all if I have posted this on the wrong board, I read through Martins original post/rules etc so hope I'm not in the wrong in posting here.
I dont know about the rest of the parents reading this forum but where I live the parents all buy gifts for the childrens teachers as an end of year "Thankyou". Its my daughters first year at school so while I wanted to do the "right thing" by buying a gift as a thankyou I didnt want to give the teachers yet another bottle of bubble bath etc. What I did was go onto the Oxfam website at:
http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com/ProductList.aspx?CategoryID=11&BrowseType=category&CategorySelector1:BrowseByCategory=11&Page=1
http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com/ProductList.aspx?CategoryID=11&BrowseType=category&CategorySelector1:BrowseByCategory=11&Page=1
and chose a gift from there. I hope it will appeal to the teacher cause it benefits children/teachers in a deprived area and as its oxfam, its a name i trust. I also chose the gift aid option-every little helps.
I hope this might inspire someone else to go for a more ethical gift for that end of year treat.
Al.

That's a great idea - we always get something that can be used in class and it's amazing just how much the teachers appreciate it. When dd's were in reception I managed to get one of those huge reading books with six identical normal size in a pack ever so cheap from the bookpeople - the teacher was nearly in tears! (of delight!)0
