Car insurance - no address???

Hi
I'm currently living in a womens refuge, it has no registered address and so the only address we can give out is the head office address which is roughly 20 mins drive away, in a different area.
I'm worried about my car insurance as I'm not going back to my old address, would the insurance company accept this 'care of' address?

For correspondance I would expect them to be able to send it wherever you chose.
However you need to make sure your car is correctly insured at the address where you are living.0 -
The post code makes all the difference. Once I moved house 1.5 miles away and my premium went up by £20, well they tried until I kicked off...0

There's only one way to find out whether they will accept it - by calling them and asking!
But be aware that the insurer will also require the postcode at which the vehicle is kept overnight - they cannot assess the risk on just a correspondence address.0 -
That's the problem though, this place does not have a postcode, it's not even a registered address.
I will be calling them but at the moment have no credit to do so so thought I'd ask here first for a bit of a heads up.0 -
Most addresses are registered and have a post code, but for a variety of reasons they are not listed.
If you ask the person who runs the refuge, they will give the postcode and residential address it comes under. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Trust me they will not give me an address or postcode, it's not registered, it does not exist, social services had to battle with them to get the 'address' as in find out where I live. Most addresses are registered and have a post code, but for a variety of reasons they are not listed.

At best I could get the post code for the other houses in the area/road which the house is on, well it's on the road but set back, so it's actually behind the houses on what would of been just wasteland or a field.
I'm buying a new car next week so will speak to them when I change it all over and see what they say.0 -
This is probably for protection reasons, but does not help if you needed to be sent important documents in the post.
Can the refuge provide a postal address nearby, where they can collect the documents and give these to you ?The comments I post are personal opinion. Yes it is a purpose built refuge, they do have a PO box in the village but they will only let us have benefits, doctors and housing letters sent there, all other post has to go to the head office, it's a nightmare. This is probably for protection reasons, but does not help if you needed to be sent important documents in the post.

I'll just have to call them and go from there.0
