Lol well I typed in card making and found a thread which I flicked through and found a part 2 and so on until I found this one, a mini adventure :rotfl:

I have had a quick look through and ill have a better look in a bit :)
I haven't started card making yet but I really want to try it! Ive just been searching the internet on how to get started, should I just buy a kit or do I need some special tools? It seems impossible to get my head around at the moment :o embossing, stamping and who knows what else....I just want to make pretty cards :D:o

Anyway a big hello to everyone and I hope you don't mind if I join this thread?

    Hello Emzy and welcome.

We'll soon have you making pretty cards, if you'd like to see some inspiration, most of us on here have got card making blogs. Click on some user names and a lot of us have got our blogs as our home page. Have a wander around the blogs then see if there are any styles you like.

You'll need to decide what you want to do. Rubber stamping, digi stamping, decoupage, etc. See what you like the look of and where you'd like to start.

You could buy a kit, that's a good way but you might find you have too much of the same thing. You'll need some basic stuff like card stock or card blanks, double sided tape or other adhesive, craft knife and cutting mat, pretty papers and perhaps some embellishments. The list could be quite long!

You could take a look at Create and Craft on Sky (671) or Freeview (can't remember the number on there, sorry). Also some craft programmes on Ideal World (644) and sometimes on QVC (640). You'll see lots of different techniques, particularly on Create and Craft.

Once you've seen something that takes your fancy, come back and ask some more questions and we'll point you in the right direction. Tools? Ah, lots of lovely things to buy, we'll tempt you as we go along :rotfl: . On this thread MSE stands for Money Spending Experts but don't tell Martin!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks Tomsmom :)
Ive just had a quick look at a few peoples and the cards on your blog are exactly the type of cards I was thinking of when I decided I wanted to make cards and then all the different terms got me confused lol :o
So ive no idea what type of cards they are but I want to make cards like the ones on your blog :) or is that still too vague? Sorry if I sound stupid I don't usually sound this stupid.. more a little mad :D

And lol at the money spending experts.... on some threads I save money only to go and spend it again because ive looked at others threads!

Ive just had a quick look on create and craft...looks interesting (more confusing but interesting :D)

Thanks for the reply I thought everyone would be in bed!

ETA: Where is the best place to buy card blanks? Im looking around but have no idea if its cheap or not

I'm a bit of a night owl and just about to go off now.

Most of my cards use digi images. They're images you can either find free on the 'net or you can buy and they're emailed to you, then you print them off on some good quality cardstock at the size you want.
Rubber stamping is where you buy a wood mounted stamp, or clear acrylic stamp you mount temporarily onto an acrylic block, then ink up with the appropriate ink and stamp onto card stock. You can then colour these images how you like, most of us tend to use Promarkers but they're just about the most expensive colouring pens on the market!

You'll need to buy the size of card blank you fancy, or make your own from a sheet of A4 card stock. Then you'll need some pretty paper, lots available to buy, lots available as freebies off the 'net.

Once you've printed and coloured your images you'll need to mat them onto some other card, maybe using punches or dies for different shapes then you can add them to your card. Raising them up on foam pads (I use 1mm depth so they don't cost too much to post) looks nice, then there are lots of embellishments you can buy, flowers, buttons, adhesive gems, etc.

Papermania stuff is fairly reasonable, take a look at https://www.docrafts.com for products, ideas and card galleries for inspiration.

For a start, how about this for freebie digi images from Cuddly Buddly. There are plenty of others and this site puts links up daily, you should find something you like if you plough through.

I've had lots of free printable papers from this site, you'll need to scroll through and download something you like.

That should keep you busy for the next week :rotfl: .

If you fancy decoupage there's lots of die cut decoupage you can buy which is much easier than cutting out.

Check out a few of the Create and Craft programmes over the weekend if you've got time and see if there's anything you fancy trying then we can point you in the right direction.

Oh, just thought. You can buy stamped images off Ebay, just put "stamped images" in the search box and "craft" section and you'll see quite a few come up. That way you can see if there's a style of image you like too. I've bought some off Ebay and they can work out at about 20p each.

Must get to bed now. Don't forget to check other blogs as we all have different styles and tastes.

P.S. Just seen your edit about card blanks. I've got a load in my stash I bought yonks ago so not really sure where the best place is at the moment. Papermania do some and Craftwork Cards but you can also find some at The Works. Ebay probably has some. Where abouts do you live as someone might know if you've got any craft shops in your area.

    Hi all,
I did lurk on here last night and catch up reading but got too sleepy to add any message on. Didn't get any papercrafting done yesterday but did do a little knitting. Got to sit and make up dh accounts spreadsheet this morning as the figures have to be to the tax credit peoploe by the end of this month else they stop the payments. Can't afford to risk that happening.
Right so I should probably be doing that instead of typing here but hey ho, I'll leave the window open and keeping checking back to see what going on!
