I think this is the problem some school PTA's see themselves as something that should be put on a pedestal. The majority of us though just want to help provide things for the children and have fun whilst doing it. We seem to have the problem that parents are happy to give their kids the money to spend but won't give up their time, we even offer 30 min intervals to help and they all seem to come up with excuses.

when my two were at infant school I was on the pta from day 1 and the last two years my friend and I were the pta! when they went to junior school I didn't know anyone on the pta and thought I would have a break. now I am too scared to join:eek: we haven't had a fair this year as the pta said there weren't enough volunteers - they hadn't sent a letter asking for volunteers but based it on last year's numbers. I am fairly good at manning a stall if asked and OH usually does. I do feel guilty for not doing more but am too scared of going into an established group!saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

Blimey, not surprised craftygranny! Does your daughter want to come help me in 2 weeks
Been really cloudy here all day, got lots of ironing done:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

Flippin' 'eck, they should be so lucky! I think that's bl**dy rude and I join your DD in telling the PTA what to do.
Babyfreckles I'm now a follower too! I'll do a blog hop later and catch up on commenting.
Giggle - I couldn't understand why I'd not seen any of your cards, now I realise you don't have a "follower" thing on your blog so I wouldn't get updates.
Melissa - Sorry I didn't get around to doing your challenge. Can't think why I didn't get my bum into gear on that one as purple/lilac is right up there with pink as my favourite colours.
Tired Mom - Glad you had a nice weekend at the caravan. My friend's gone to a B&B in Llandudno for the weekend, travelled yesterday and coming back tomorrow. She'd have got drowned today as I think they had the same weather as us.
We've had an awful day weather-wise, torrential rain and winds until about 4pm so I took myself off to my loft and made a card, then the sun came out and was streaming through the window and so bright I couldn't see, had to shut the curtains and then it was too dark! I really must sort some blinds out for that room. Anyway I've blogged the card and entered it into a few challenges.
I was checking my challenge list and deleting some old ones now finished and discovered that I'd been picked for Top 3 at Kaboodle Doodles a couple of weeks ago (the same challenge Padster won with her gorgeous purple cupcake card). I emailed as requested to pick up my blinkie and with the reply was an invitation to be guest DT for the next challenge. OMG, you're gonna think I'm so stupid but I declined. I can only make cards when the fancy takes me, I've seen an idea to inspire me or follow a sketch. Otherwise I'm pants at it and I really didn't want the pressure of having to come up with the goods for a certain date if I couldn't get motivated.

Your experience would be really valuable. It took me a couple of months to pluck up the courage to approach our PTA but when I did they bit my hand off at offering to help:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Congratulations Tomsmom, what a great offer xxx:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

I completely agree with Rainmac and if it is something you would like to do please bite the bullet.
Perhaps if there is an event coming up you could offer to help and take that as a first step. Otherwise do they have regular meetings. We hold alternate meetings at the school and the head and deputy come and then in between we are at the pub with no school staff. You may find it easier to go to a pub one if your school pta do the same.
Right hot choccy and bed.

Tired Mom - thanks - I hope they were the ones that you were after.
TomsMom - don't worry about not entering - I am useless at entering challenges!!! Congrats on your win - I know what you mean - I'm a bit hesitant about being on a design team - I think I'd get too stressed out worrying whether a) I'd be able to get it done, b) my card would be good enough - it must have been nice to be asked though!!!0 -

Sorry snipped you. Well done and what a compliment. I can understand as I'm not great on forced creativity.
