I got a skirt off ebay its a Monsoon black pencil skirt with a bit of a bustle shaped back. It's really gorgeous and fits really well but its a shiny material. I was not expecting that and I don't want to send it back as I love it but I don't know what to wear it with?
I have a christening in July and it would be great for that but with what on top ~ any thoughts?

I think I should mention that there has been a rule change at MSE and we are not meant to mention blogs. (in case of advertising). Even though no board guid has mentioned it here its been flagged up on Old style. :(

Any chance of a pic of it? I'm terrible at visualising skirts for some reason!

Hottest day of the year and I've got the central heating on to dry clothes so that I have something to wear to work tomorrow - the life of a disorganised person!

Not sure I'll be able to sleep in this sauna of a flat but will give it a try.

    Night night fashionistas!

I have a suit from my thinner days with a fishtail skirt. I always felt very sexy in it. Keep this if it flatters you! I'd think about a sort of secretary chic ....a cute twin set...but because of the sheen, something not heavy....not wooly or anything.

Yes i have a similar shaped skirt, in a thick dark blue satin. I'd usuLly wear it with a plain vest and a cardi with a string of pearls or something, but the style would lend itslef to a nicely fitted blouse.

Alex I'm glad you got the cardi/ did you manage to get the dress exchanged?

I've had such an odd evening..had invited a friend for tea, and then was talking to another friend (my college boyfriend in fact lol-we had a time of not talking for a yr or so, and since then get on like friends as if we'd never been together)..anyway he's feeling really down at the moment due to a girl, and has nothing to do this week, so I extended the invite to him also. Was a little concerned they'd not get on, but they are both really funny and witty and friendly, and luckily we all just laughed all evening. Worked out well :)

Oh that's nice. Love the fishtail. I'd go with the advice the other two have given you - a pretty camisole with a cardi over it, or a blouse (as long as it doesn't look too severe and workwear-ish) would look lovely with it.

Char - yup, exchanged the dress and bought some other bits :o

Alex, can I ask how much the horse dress from primark is? I love it! Am looking at it on ebay but the only one that is the size I think I need is 13 pounds plus 9 pounds postage! I may not live in the UK anymore but I can't believe primark dresses are now that expensive!
