How much to haggle off a car priced at £8K?
Hi,
I am looking to purchase a car soon roughly around the £7-8K mark. It will be a used car and from a dealer (Mercedes).
How much should i try to haggle off this price without making myself look silly by asking for too much?!
I will need to pay per month for it as I can't afford to pay for it out right so I will be looking at trying to find a loan next rather than using the dealerships finance programmes.
Many thanks for your help in advance.

If you're not trading in, I'd wait till the scrappage scheme finishes. Then haggling should be easier. On 8k I'd start by offering 6.5k and pointing out all the defects I could see. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

I'd be very careful about what you aim to achieve with haggling.
I would check nationally to see what the prices are like, with a view to travelling for the 'right' car.
I'd rather have £500 off a car that was £7250 in the first place rather than £2000 off an overpriced £9K similar car.0 -
Know your market, you can't haggle for anything unless you know (plus or minus) how much it is worth.0

do your own homework and find out if the car is well priced or not.
If you offer £6500 then expect tp be frog-marched off the site...0 -
