Edf problem

Options
Hi all, I hope someone can help me.
EDF are charging me 1200 for somewhere I lived years ago in a shared accomodation, i paid them 600 at least already when Ilived there then they stopped taking the money (i think they told me it had finished, I cant remember well)
They now found me at my new address and have sent me a bill from 2007-2008 (way after I left) I called them and they said not to worry all would be sorted, so like an idiot i threw the bill away. I then received the same bill but the dates had been conveniently changed to the time I WAS living there! Since then I am receieving a different bill every week, one for 900, which they said is all i owe as I paid the 600 originally, one for over 2000 and the orginal. they have said that on the really high bill its between me and the people thta moved in AFTER me, once i pay my bit the bill will switch names ( i have never heard of such an odd preactice) the people that lived there after me used an entirely different electricity company too, so I know they are lying, I have proof of that as I have a bill from southern electric from them.
I was paying them 25 a week but I stopped the order as they clearly have no idea what they are doing and the last bill was dater until last month, in my name!

Don;t ignore the bill; debts don't usually disappear ... rather they grow and grow and come back to bite you when you least expect it.

Remember, they could even lodge a default on your credit history if you fail to resolve this, which will scupper your future chances to obtain credit.

Contact them and try to negotiaite a resolution however difficult it may appear to be.

Hi da-gforce - From the confusion of the amounts charged on different bills, supposedly for the same period, it seems that EDF are as confused as you are

Write to EON enclosing copies of the bills that conflict on dates or amounts, and ask for bills that are sequential and fully detailed with the period of charge, the consumption and tariff charges - They have to supply these - and head the letter Complaint

  • Thanks for the advice both of you, it's much appreciated! I will do as you say with the bills, although I'm not sure what EON stands for?
