                    hi all
we are 6 females (2 60ish and 4 40ish) going to cork next month (19th march) for 3 nights
we are looking for some lively traditional music places to go and enjoy, we will do a bit of sightseeing but really just want to soak up the atmosphere
we do partake of a bit of alcohol too, so tips on great bars would be welcome pls:beer:
have done a bit of research already, and looks like its very expensive to eat out, any recommendations for decent meals.....
our accomodation is booked, as are our flights
thanx in advance

i went to Cork a few years ago and prefered it over Dublin as it wasn't full of p!ssed up stag do's! There are loads of pubs so just have a wander and pick one that takes your fancy.
As for sight seeing Blarney Castle is pretty close so you could go and kiss the Blarney Stone. Also get the train down to Cobh which is a lovely little village which the Titanic called at as her last port before seting off on her ill-fated voyage.0 -
I like Cork, it's a lovely city to visit and I'm not really a city person normally, but I did like Cobh. I second the above poster about Cobh, that's another fab little place to visit, we went though when it was really foggy, kind of eerie really. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

If you are going to Blarney there is a fab pub called the muskerry arms that has live music on saturday nights. We meet family there and had a brill night:beer:. Also a fantastic eatery upstairs and b+b. All run by 3 brothers0

i have been there many times , and i am sure you will have a great time , theres excellent shops and stuff to look round during daytime and lots of bars around with live music . There is a place there called the english market which is indoors and sells all kinds of foodstuffs , well worth looking round , it gives you an idea of why the food in cork tastes so much better than the gear we eat over here , yum yum .
You will find the people freindly and chatty , have a great time enjoy the craic ,my favourite food is spare ribs0
