Chunk of wall fallen out

Any ideas..a small chucnk of wall above the window has fallen out with the new curtain pole I just put up. I must have drilled a hole too close to the edge of the window as I wanted to get the curtain drop just right!..what kind of materila is best to smooth this uneven patch over and which will be strong enough to hold another screw for the curtain pole...need to be in the same spot as it's the centre bracket:(

  • for small repaires like this, i use a product called thistle hardwall, which dries very hard and can be screwed into.

you can then smooth over the top of this with a suitable product of choice.

    i use this http://www.british-gypsum.com/products/plasterboard___accessories/gyproc_accessories/gyproc_joint_cement.aspx

it dries fairly quickly and can be sanded easily if not left for days. the finish is as good as plaster imo. it can also be purchased in a pre mixed tub
You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.

How wide and deep (in cm) is the hole. I'd just go with Polyfiler I never had problems with that and it tends to be strong enough for screws and nails. You can get pre-mixed which is more expensive but great if you don't want to mess about mixing it up.

Thank you both for the replies..I will try to get some of the ready mixed stuff as the hole is only about 2cm at it's deepest and doesn't cover a large area.

    Thanks both for the tips:)

If you are using Polyfilla it is best not to try to fill the hole all in one go. Two or three thinner applications of filler will set more quickly.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
