St Ives Bay Holiday Park

I'm looking for a family bucket & spade holiday in the £4-500 price range in the school holidays. The cheapest I have found so far is a caravan on the St Ives Bay Holiday Park - £458 for a Mermaid caravan.

Has anyone stayed in these caravans before - it is the cheapest on the park so are they miles from the beach or near the clubhouse (and all the noise)?

If you've stayed at this park, then I would be really keen to hear your thoughts.

Have always camped before but just can't face it this year but didn't appreciate how much holiday accommodation costs! So if anyone knows of somewhere cheaper that they could personally recommend then I would be interested.

Your help is really appreciated - many thanks.

If you do a good deal of hunting online, you can get some bargain cottages. I've bagged one for October half term...£320 for the week. Did a week at new year for £400. All in the uk. Summer will be slightly more but it depends on what you want to do.

keep looking...there are some good deals out there. Sorry I cant help on the park as I've never been there..I too am a camper but like the comfort of a cottage now and again :D

I doubt in the summer holiday you will get much cheaper than that to be honest.
I know where the St Ives Holiday Park is and its a nice location. Beach is through the massive sand dunes so shouldn't think anywhere on the site is more than a 10 minute walk. Hayle has a couple of supermarkets (big Coop and a Lidl) and plenty of shops for holiday souvenirs etc. M&S within 5 minutes drive on the A30 junction. Philps bakery is place to go for pasties although be prepared to queue!

St Ives is about a 10/15 minute drive from there although you can also get the very scenic train into St Ives from Lelant which is far easier than trying to drive and park there in the summer (that part of Cornwall will be very very busy in the summer! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Ives_Bay_Line

Carbis Bay is between Hayle and St Ives and also worth a visit for a few hours on the lovely beach there. Then hop back on the train or walk the coastal path into St Ives (about half hour walk or so)

As Halfpint says maybe keep searching for self catering but height of summer and under £500 in prime Cornish holiday season is not easy!
