We're not bothered about going straight after the wedding so are just having a week at home together straight after the wedding and have booked 2 weeks off for the month after for honeymoon.
We're doing this, with Thomas Cook vouchers. Also letting people know that there is an alternative of Debenhams vouchers if they don't like the idea of paying for a holiday for us!!0 -
Have you thought of setting up a ''wedding webiste''? dedicated to you with a paypal link to your account? the page can have pics etc on it of where you want to go etc. That way people can pay into an account for you - and you have the flexability of grabbing a bargain too!!

Hi Christabel, we are in a similar situation to your daughter. We decided to go with the website http://www.buy-our-honeymoon.com/ as we could ask for aything we wanted on there. We have a section to contributed to certain elements of the honeymoon (upgrades, activities and trips), or just to contribute to the flights. You are not just limited to the honeymoon and can put other items on there too like housewares that you may need.
All payments are sent to paypal so can be available to use straight away.
Hope that helps.0 -
One of my friends was in the same position. After paying for the wedding, there wans't enough for a honeymoon.
They put in the invites words to the effect of - "Please do not bring gifts, as we have all we need. However, if you feel you must give something, donations towards the honeymoon would be welcome."
I was with them when they were opening all the cards afterwards, and there was cash coming out of all of every single one. They ended up with enough to pay for the fairly meagre honeymoon they'd planned and to virtually cover the wedding. :j0 -
we used trailfinders who were BRILLIANT - highly recommend them.0

My friend had lived with her partner for 4 years before getting married, so they had all the household items which would usually be seen as ideal wedding gifts. They asked for Thomas Cook vouches so that they could put it towards their honeymoon and although they only had a small wedding, it paid for their honeymoon and they still have some left over. Thomas Cook is a good place to get the vouchers because it's easily accessible and doesn't need to be done over the internet.0

Thank you all so much for your contributions. I have now persuaded them to postpone the honeymoon until Nov and they will ask for Debenhams vouchers that they can turn into a Virgin holiday. I couldn't have done it without all of your help so thanks again.0

Hi, not sure if this offer is on anywhere but at the wedding show in B'Ham debenhams had a stand and if you signed up to their gift list you got 40% discount on any virgin honeymoon!
